The work session will allow Pinal County businesses to help decide which workplace skills should to be taught to CTE students.
CAVIT’s program has an articulation agreement with Central Arizona College’s massage therapy program, so students have the opportunity to earn 12.5 college credits in massage therapy while they are still in high school. CAC staff evaluates students’ skill proficiency each semester before awarding the college credit, so CAVIT’s massage therapy students are proficient in their skills when they enter the college program.
Barth said CAVIT’s students have been asked to provide massage services at area businesses and the city of Coolidge, the city of Casa Grande and the Florence Senior Center. Its massage spa is in its second year of operation and offers chair or full body massages (a choice of 30, 60 or 90 minutes), mud wraps and sea salt scrubs. All services are free.
